Project Description: Southern Stainless was engaged to fabricate and install an extensive balustrade package for the Queen’s Wharf development along the Brisbane City foreshore, including sections integrated through the QUT Ferry Terminal.
The scope included approximately 950 metres of pedestrian balustrade and 350 metres of bicycle balustrade, designed to withstand heavy public use in a demanding riverside environment.
Working closely with the project team during the early design phase, we contributed to the engineering of the balustrade system and recommended alternative material sizes and thicknesses to improve efficiency and reduce overall project costs without compromising performance.
In addition to producing detailed shop drawings using SolidWorks, our team also assisted in developing detailed drawings for concrete girders and integrated services, providing added value to the client and improving coordination across trades.
All components were manufactured from high quality 316 marine grade stainless steel, water cut and fabricated in-house, then polished and electropolished to achieve a smooth, highly durable finish suitable for long-term outdoor exposure.
